Language gives meaning, identity and connection. Language comes in many forms!
Sounds vibrate in body, mind and soul. What sounds do you listen to? Are these positive?
We use color to give strength to a message. African messages deserve African colours..
A gesture sometimes says more than words. In addition to being excellent storytellers, Africans are also used to communicating with gestures. Gestures reinforce what you say. Gestures are universal. Many African gestures are used worldwide.
Symbols also have a lot of expressive power, they can be understood by everyone. The first writing consisted of symbols - hieroglyphs from Kemet. The hieroglyphic writing often contained progressive and spiritual messages.
Speaking has an impact
In recent centuries we have been taught to accept that people speak negatively about us.
Unconsciously we sometimes speak that way ourselves.
We must speak with more knowledge and appreciation about our identity, traditions and achievements.
Who writes, that person's ideas stay
The full and honest story of our history has not always been told in all kinds of books, magazines and newspapers. Some texts need to be supplemented or rewritten.
Let us use African insights and words.
There is language about us and language by us. Language is also a story. We need to tell the whole story. With knowledge and respect.
